Meet Detroit — a 60‑pound sweetheart with a great mind, a soft heart, and a hilarious “work smarter, not harder” philosophy.

He came to us after his owner’s housing situation changed and dogs were no longer allowed, so this gentle boy is looking for a fresh start with a family who can give him the stability and love he deserves. He can be a little shy at first, but once he realizes you’re kind (and maybe holding snacks), he warms up quickly and becomes wonderfully affectionate.

Detroit is very treat‑motivated and clever at figuring out how to get those treats. When asked to try the A‑frame, he took one look, calculated the treat’s location halfway up… and simply walked around to the side and stretched his neck to snag it. Efficiency expert. Problem‑solving king. Zero wasted effort. This boy is going places.

He previously lived with a cat and did fine with his cat, though he’s not a fan of unfamiliar cats. At the shelter, he’s interacted well with other dogs and enjoys their company.
